Snubco’s safety record is one of the best in the industry. And we are proud to have been honoured with the “Certificate of Recognition” from the Alberta Association for Safety Partnerships with an average score of 95% for each audit year.
We maintain this track record with a comprehensive safety and incident control program to ensure the health, safety and well-being of employees, customers and the public.
Our intensive safety program consists of:
- New employee orientation
- Intermediate employee training and certification
- Advanced employee training
- Core Procedures training
- Tailgate safety meetings in the field and shop on a daily basis
- Formal weekly safety meetings, and job site inspections conducted and documented by supervisor-level employees
- ‘Safety Pays’ program’ that rewards employees and management for consistent on-the-job and in-shop safety practices and procedures
- Annual safety audits using the Enform (Energy Safety Canada) Basic Safety Programs audit protocol
- Annual review of our safety program to identify and respond to changes in technology, government legislation and potential hazards
- Hazard Identification Reporting System – a way for employees to provide feedback on equipment safety for design modifications
- Well control safety training
- Well Servicing Blow-Out Prevention training

In addition, we maintain a comprehensive Policy and Procedures manual – an active document that outlines all formal safety policies and job specific procedures. As snubbing technology expands, the need for additions to the manual is constant. Every employee contributes so that future employees can benefit from past experience. Anyone within SNUBCO can contribute to improving or upgrading the Policies and Procedures manual; it is re-evaluated every year.
We consider safety training a “life-long learning” process and continually develop specialized workshops to keep up-to-date on safety topics related to our industry.
